I have been such a slacker blogger. My last doctor visit and ultrasound was weeks ago and I'm just now getting around to telling you about it. Thankfully everything went well...the baby looks good and the heartbeat is strong. Listening to the heartbeat is one of my most favorite things in the world. There is just nothing like it. I still can't seem to wrap my head around the fact that a baby...a real life, growing, kicking, squirmy baby is inside me. Listening to the heartbeat just makes all of that seem so real and I love it! Josh still hasn't been able to hear our little one's heartbeat yet so I bought one of those monitors from Wal*Mart. Obviously, the technology Wal*Mart can sell me is not the same the doctors use because so far no luck. We can hear the baby moving around but can't detect the heart. Hopefully once it's a little bigger it will be no problem. I'm pretty sure I'll be sitting around all day with that monitor on my belly. I just can't get enough of it.
My second ultrasound was one thousand times better than the first. Mostly because Josh was able to make it. Finally after 13 weeks he was able to see for himself that there is in fact a baby in there. We got to see everything. We saw the head, spine, fingers, arms, legs, stomach....she/he was perfect! And very active....we may be in trouble in a few years. However, the doctor told me an active baby is a healthy baby. She/he was even waving at us at one point :). I was hoping that we would be able to find out boy or girl but unfortunately, no such luck. I'm thinking that since we couldn't tell it is probably a girl. If it is a boy I will be in denial for a while I'm sure. (In this picture the baby is upside down ;))
Waiting it not my thing. I can't wait for anything...we have Christmas early every year because I just can't wait until the 25th to let everyone have their gifts. Needless to say waiting 21 weeks (which is how far I'll be at my next ultrasound appt.) to find out the sex WILL be the death of me. I have looked at the Chinese calendar, done the pencil test, and just recently took an at home gender predictor pee test. Yes you read that right. I got it at Rite Aid. It is supposedly 90% accurate. Me and mom went and bought it one night and OF COURSE you had to wait and do it first thing in the morning. I was up at 6:30 to pee in a cup! Orange meant girl and green was boy. So I guess you want to know the results?
That's right! It predicted girl!! Even though I'm super pumped my pee turned orange I just can't get my hopes up until I know 100%. As of now I have plans on going to Baby Belly in Lexington around Dec. 3rd to find out for sure. Josh is not too keen on the idea simply because he doesn't want to fork out the $115 but I usually win these things ;) (I know you will read this hunny!) Not to mention that Carter's is right across the road so when we find out for sure we are having a girl we can go shopping for her! Ahhh I can't wait. I'm ready to register and everything!! I wish it didn't take so long to make a baby but I can't really complain...God knows what he's doing.
So I basically have you all caught up on my pregnancy so far. I am not getting sick anymore THANK YOU JESUS and most of my energy is back. My belly is getting is huge (as you can see below). No one should be this big at 14 weeks...what can I say I have to make sure my precious one has enough swimming space in there.
How many inches you think my belly has grown so far? Comment to guess and I'll tell you in the next blog. I'll try not to wait a month before I blog again.
